One of the more fascinating turns in PC history was the depths of despair in 2000 to the NCAA Tournament in 2001 (my senior year). The '00 team couldn't hit a thing from deep, then in '01 Linehan came back a shooter, Abdul Mills and Rome Augustin took huge leaps, and they added three frosh (Kabba, Anrin, and Laksa) who all stroked it from deep. I think that team started 2-3, then got hot out of nowhere. It was wild.
1999-00 was my senior year in high school and I was supposed to visit St. John's on the same day as PC's Big East Tournament game with Seton Hall. In my thinking, I had to choose between the two (never considered maybe visiting St. John's and ATTENDING the game on the same day). Anyway, I stayed home to watch us get embarrassed by Seton Hall and never did visit St. John's as a prospective student.
Then, the next year, I followed the 2000-01 team afar as a freshman at Northwestern and was a bit stunned. I remember listening to the blowout win over Georgetown and just being giddy.
